Want to keep only a few pages, or throw only a few away — either way you get a new file and the original stays untouched.

Difference from Split

Splitting cuts one PDF into several files; this is the output.OneA new file — handy for cases like "drop the cover and appendix".

When to use it

  • A 40-page tender document needs only pages 2, 5–8, and the final signature page, and the other party wants one clean PDF.
  • A downloaded PDF has ads at the front and an appendix at the back, and you want to drop those pages in one pass instead of printing around them.

When not to

  • You need to split one PDF into several files to send separately — this tool outputs a single PDF; use Split PDF instead.
  • You want to reorder pages, for example move the signature page to the front — keep mode outputs pages in ascending order and can't rearrange them; split first, then merge.
Limits and privacy

Extracting and deleting pages run locally in pdf-lib; the PDF is never uploaded and is cleared when you close the tab. Limits: the result is always one file, so it can't split a PDF; kept pages come out in ascending order and can't be rearranged; encrypted PDFs can't be read; bookmarks, outlines, form fields, and digital signatures aren't preserved. The original stays untouched, so there's no risk of overwriting it.

Frequently asked

How do I write page ranges, and what happens if they're out of range?

Numbering starts at 1, and commas separate single pages and ranges, such as 1-3,5,8. Anything past the last page is ignored and duplicate pages count once. Keep mode outputs in ascending order, so 8,2 still gives pages 2 and 8. If the result would be zero pages, the tool warns you and cancels.

Are bookmarks, forms, and signatures kept after deleting pages?

No. The new file is rebuilt by pdf-lib copying page content one page at a time, so bookmarks, outlines, AcroForm fields, and digital signatures aren't carried over; a signed PDF loses its signature even if you delete just one page. Use Acrobat or the original app if those structures must survive.

Can it handle an encrypted PDF or one with hundreds of pages?

PDFs with an open password or a permissions password can't be read and fail immediately, so save a copy without a password first. There's no hard page limit; a few hundred ordinary pages usually work, but the whole file is parsed in memory, so large scans can slow a phone down noticeably. The output is always named extracted.pdf.
