Thousands Separator Formatter
Add thousands separators to a long number and compare the en-US, zh-CN and ja-JP renderings side by side. Commas and spaces in the input are stripped first, decimals keep up to three places, and it is handy for checking report figures.
How to use
- Enter a number, with or without commas, spaces or a sign, such as 1234567.89.
- Three lines show the en-US, zh-CN and ja-JP renderings.
- The sign is preserved and up to three decimal places are kept.
FAQ
Do the three formats differ?
For plain numbers they are identical: three digits and a comma. The locales diverge on currency symbols, units and dates, so the three lines are mainly for checking and pasting.
Are decimals truncated?
Up to three decimals are kept and the rest is rounded. If you need exactly two, round before or after this step.
Do very large numbers lose precision?
Integers above 2^53 lose precision in JavaScript, so verify with string handling or split the figure into parts rather than relying on this for bookkeeping.
