FAQ
How many miles is a kilometre?
One international mile is exactly 1.609344 km under the 1959 yard and pound agreement, so 1 km = 0.6213711922 miles. This tool uses that standard value rather than the 0.62 people use for mental arithmetic.
How many miles is a 42.195 km marathon?
42.195 × 0.6213711922 ≈ 26.2188 miles, which is why a marathon is called 26.2 miles abroad. A half marathon of 21.0975 km is about 13.1094 miles, useful when your watch is set to the other unit.
