GB to MB
Data plans, cloud storage, and game installs are sold in GB, but limits are often enforced in MB. Convert with the 1024-based convention to see how much room you actually have.
How to use
- Type the size in GB, decimals welcome, e.g. 2.
- The result uses 1 GB = 1024 MB and updates as you type.
- Press Copy result for the whole line, e.g. 2 GB = 2048 MB.
FAQ
Is 1 GB 1024 MB or 1000 MB?
Both conventions exist. Windows and this tool use 1024, so 1 GB = 1024 MB; drive manufacturers label in decimal, so their 1 GB = 1000 MB. Strictly, the 1024-based units are GiB and MiB — which is why a 1 TB drive shows up as 931 GB in Windows.
How long will 2 GB of data last for video?
This tool only converts units, it doesn't estimate playback time. Bitrates differ so much between platforms and resolutions that 2 GB might be half an hour or a few hours. Check the data-usage hint in the video app, or look at your current usage in settings.
