How to Watermark a Batch of Photos Without Ruining Them

To put the same shop name or copyright line on a batch of photos, open the watermark tool in your browser, set the text, position, size and opacity once, then process the whole batch and download the results. The images stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.

When you actually need a watermark

Before you send product shots, rental listings or portfolio samples to a client, or upload them to a marketplace, a shop name or © handle tells people where the image came from and discourages casual right-click saving. It matters most for unpaid samples: a light mark is better than handing over a clean file.

If the batch mixes phone snapshots with large camera files, size the text as a percentage of image width rather than a fixed number of pixels. The mark then looks roughly the same on every image instead of huge on small files and tiny on large ones.

How to do it without making a mess

Always start from the originals. PNG files come back as PNG; everything else is re-encoded as JPG, so stacking watermarks on an already-watermarked file adds another round of compression. Start around 5% of the image width for size and 50% opacity, then check the result against the actual background. Light areas need contrast; the tool adds a translucent dark outline, but it is not a substitute for choosing a visible colour.

There are six preset positions — top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, bottom-centre and centre — and no drag or tiling. Edge positions are the easiest to crop away. If deterrence matters, use the centre, accepting that it covers part of the subject. Process one image first and inspect it before running the batch.

When not to use it

A corner caption will not stop a determined thief; cropping or retouching it is easy. Real protection usually means tiling, sending only low-resolution previews, or using an invisible watermark — none of which this tool does. If you need a logo, QR code or graphic mark, use a design app; this tool draws text only.

If the browser cannot decode a format such as some HEIC files, convert it to JPG first. A watermark is not encryption and does not change sharing permissions: anyone who receives the image can still save it.

FAQ

How do I make the watermark the same size on every photo?

Set the size as a percentage of image width instead of a fixed pixel value. Around 5% looks consistent on both a small phone snapshot and a large camera file; keep the same percentage for the next batch.

Where should I put a watermark so it can't be cropped out?

Corners and bottom-centre are easy to crop. The centre is harder to remove, but it covers the subject. For product images, start with bottom-centre; for important samples, use the centre. No position is both invisible and crop-proof.

Does watermarking reduce quality or upload my photos?

The drawing happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. PNG stays PNG and its pixels are unchanged; JPG and other formats are re-encoded once. Repeatedly watermarking an already-marked file compounds the loss, so always start from the original. EXIF is dropped.
