Capture What You Learned from a Mentor
Added 2026-10-31
Turn a conversation into actionable advice, testable judgements and next questions.
I just talked with a more experienced person and want to capture it while fresh. I will give the key points. Do: 1) split their advice into "do directly" and "judge against my context"; 2) pick three testable judgements (e.g. a method they say works — what could I test it on); 3) list three questions I did not understand and should ask next time; 4) give the one point they repeated; 5) suggest one concrete thing to do within 30 days.

How to use
请教的价值在「带走什么」,不在聊得多好。
Try tweaking it
- Ask for one diagnostic question first to locate where you are stuck.
- Replace "explain it" with "give three progressive exercises; correct me after I answer".
What you should get
- A diagnosis of exactly where you are stuck
- A small set of self-checkable exercises
Common mistakes
- Asking it to explain from scratch, and still not knowing where you went wrong.
- Memorising the explanation as the answer, then failing on any variant.
How to check the output
- It names exactly where you are stuck instead of re-explaining everything.
- Exercises are graded and self-checkable.
Where it works
- Good for: diagnosing where you are stuck, then giving the smallest exercise instead of a lecture.
- Watch out: ask it to flag uncertainty rather than memorising a confident but wrong explanation.
