Unicode Escape Encoder
Write non-ASCII characters as \uXXXX escapes while leaving ASCII untouched, so the result can be pasted into Java, JavaScript, or JSON contexts that expect plain ASCII. Chinese, Japanese, and full-width punctuation are all converted, which helps when tracking down encoding mismatches.
How to use
- Enter text that contains Chinese, Japanese, or other non-ASCII characters.
- Each non-ASCII character is written as \uXXXX; ASCII stays untouched.
- Paste the escaped string into a config file, source file, or test fixture that expects plain ASCII.
FAQ
Can it convert emoji correctly?
It writes four-digit \uXXXX escapes, which cover characters up to U+FFFF. Characters beyond that range (most emoji) may not round-trip, so use JSON escaping for those.
Do ASCII characters change?
No. Letters, digits, and common punctuation stay as they are; only non-ASCII characters are escaped.
How is this different from URL encoding?
\uXXXX encodes code points inside a string, while URL encoding percent-encodes UTF-8 bytes. They are used in different places.
