Truncate Long Lines
Log lines, CSV rows, and scraped paragraphs often run to hundreds of characters, which wrecks a ticket, a chat message, or a spreadsheet cell. This trims each line to 80 characters and marks the cut with an ellipsis.
How to use
- Paste the log or CSV text with its line breaks intact.
- Anything past 80 characters per line is cut and replaced with an ellipsis; shorter lines pass through unchanged.
- Press Copy result and paste it into the ticket — always check the source file if you need the full text.
FAQ
Why 80 characters, and can I change it?
The limit is fixed at 80 characters for now, counted as characters rather than bytes or display width — one Chinese character or kana counts as one. For another length, split long lines at punctuation first, or trim the result further by hand.
Does it cut in the middle of a word?
Yes. There's no word-boundary detection, so the cut lands exactly at character 80 and an English word can end up split in half. If readability matters, paste the result back into an editor and fix the breaks.
