Does a blank line use up a number?
Numbering advances line by line, so a blank line usually takes a slot and later numbers may look skipped. Remove blank lines first if you want continuous numbering.

The tool adds sequential numbers only; the separator between number and text is fixed by the implementation. For styles such as 1) or ①, replace the format after exporting.
