Sort Words
Alphabetise a keyword list, put a shuffled vocabulary list back in order, or scan a block of words for near-duplicates. The words come back on a single line, separated by one space each.
- Paste the words or keywords into the box — spaces and line breaks both act as separators.
- The words are reordered alphabetically and joined into one line with single spaces.
- Press Copy result to paste it back; what was multi-line becomes a single paragraph.
FAQ
Where did my line breaks go?
Sorting splits on spaces and line breaks, then joins everything with single spaces, so multiple lines collapse into one. Use the sort-lines tool if the line structure has to stay.
Why do capitalised words come before lowercase ones?
The sort is case-sensitive and compares character codes, so every capital letter sorts before any lowercase letter and Apple lands before apple. Use the case-insensitive line sort if that's not what you want.
How are numbers sorted?
Numbers are compared character by character, not by value, so 10 comes before 9 because the character 1 is smaller than 9. Pad the numbers to equal length first if you need numeric order.
