Inches to CM
Monitors, pipe diameters, and height figures from abroad are often given in inches. Enter the inch value to get centimetres, so you can judge the real size against a spec sheet before buying.
How to use
- Type the inch value into the field — decimals welcome, e.g. the 55 on a TV listing.
- The result uses 1 inch = 2.54 cm and refreshes as you type.
- Press Copy result to move the whole line into a shopping note or comparison sheet.
FAQ
How big is a 55-inch TV screen?
55 inches is the diagonal, which equals 139.7 cm. The actual width and height depend on the aspect ratio: a 16:9 panel measures roughly 121.8 cm wide by 68.5 cm tall, excluding the bezel. Check the manufacturer's overall dimensions before measuring a cabinet.
Is an inch the same as the Chinese cun?
No. An inch is an imperial unit of exactly 2.54 cm, while the Chinese cun is one tenth of a chi, about 3.33 cm — roughly 30% longer. When a Chinese listing says cun for screens or pipes it usually means inches, but furniture dimensions may use the traditional cun.
