Hex Decoder

Turn a hex byte string separated by spaces or commas back into UTF-8 text. Use it on hex dumps from logs, captured packets, or escaped strings. Bytes that are not valid UTF-8 come back as replacement characters instead of failing loudly.

How to use
  • Paste a hex byte string; spaces, commas, and line breaks all work as separators.
  • Every two hex digits become one byte, which is then decoded as UTF-8.
  • If you see , the bytes are probably not UTF-8 — check the encoding of the source.

FAQ

What if the result is garbled?

The bytes are decoded as UTF-8. If the source was GBK or another encoding, convert it with that encoding first instead of decoding it as UTF-8.

Does it accept a 0x prefix?

Space- or comma-separated forms such as 0x48 are parsed. If the output looks wrong, drop the prefixes and use plain two-digit hex.

Can I decode a file?

No. The output is treated as text, so non-UTF-8 bytes become and the file would be damaged. Use a command-line tool for binary data.
