Rewrite a Cold Email That Gets Replies
Added 2026-10-31
Replace self-introduction with their specific problem; the first paragraph does one job.
Below is a cold email I wrote that almost never gets replies. Rewrite it: 1) first paragraph only states a specific problem I noticed about them, not who I am; 2) second gives one piece of evidence or a case, one sentence; 3) third proposes a low-cost, concrete next step, not "let's chat"; 4) one closing line, no pleasantries; 5) under 120 words. Also tell me the biggest problem with the original.

How to use
冷邮件第一段决定对方要不要读第二段。
Try tweaking it
- Ask for three openings in different tones, then pick one.
- Replace "make it better" with concrete limits: length, reader, facts to keep.
What you should get
- A publishable draft, not an outline
- A short changelog: what changed and why
Common mistakes
- Letting it guess the facts, so plausible-looking sources get invented.
- Dumping the whole text with just "polish it" — the result still has no point.
How to check the output
- The conclusion comes first; deleting the opening paragraph does not break it.
- Every fact, number and quote traces back to the source text.
Where it works
- Good for: turning a rambling draft into a conclusion-first, shorter version.
- Watch out: keep sources and figures verbatim — do not let it invent citations.
