Which of Two Interdependent Skills Comes First
Added 2026-11-05
Get the order wrong and both skills stall.
I want to learn two related skills: [skill A] and [skill B], each of which supplies what the other needs: [dependency]. Work out the order: 1) map the minimum dependency — which part of A must be in place before B, and the reverse; 2) say which one is the blocker and which is only an accelerator; 3) give an alternating path: a small piece of A, then B, then back; 4) give the acceptance test for each stage; 5) describe the symptoms of a bad order so I can self-check midway; 6) if I can only spend ten hours first, where do they go. Do not just say "learn both".

How to use
Do not run two dependent skills side by side; start with the one that unlocks the other.
Try tweaking it
- Ask for one diagnostic question first to locate where you are stuck.
- Replace "explain it" with "give three progressive exercises; correct me after I answer".
What you should get
- A diagnosis of exactly where you are stuck
- A small set of self-checkable exercises
Common mistakes
- Asking it to explain from scratch, and still not knowing where you went wrong.
- Memorising the explanation as the answer, then failing on any variant.
How to check the output
- It names exactly where you are stuck instead of re-explaining everything.
- Exercises are graded and self-checkable.
Where it works
- Good for: diagnosing where you are stuck, then giving the smallest exercise instead of a lecture.
- Watch out: ask it to flag uncertainty rather than memorising a confident but wrong explanation.
